Chief Bill Metcalf's remarkable public safety career spans four decades, and includes time as Lieutenant of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Director of Emergency Medical Services for the Colorado Department of Public Health, as an EMS Executive Officer, and later, the Assistant Fire Chief for the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District.  In 2003, Bill was named the Fire Chief and CEO of the North County Fire Protection District in Fallbrook, Calif., a position from which he retired in December 2015. Throughout this career, Bill has been heavily involved in projects and organizations that have enriched the public safety community.  A member of the IAFC since 1995, Bill served as its President from 2013-2014.  Bill has also held leadership positions within the National Fire Service Research Center and Policy Institute and the San Diego Fire Districts Association.
